A Year of Outdoor Adventure and Community
The Rangeley Region Guides and Sportsmen’s Association (RRG&SA) is excited to announce our lineup of events for 2025. As Western Maine’s largest and oldest organization dedicated to promoting and preserving our outdoor heritage, we’ve got a packed calendar that offers something for everyone. Here’s what you can look forward to:
Monthly Membership Meetings
Our popular potluck dinners continue every 3rd Thursday from May to December. Join us at the Guides clubhouse on Old Ski Way Rd. in Oquossoc from 5:30 to 7:00 PM. These gatherings are open to all and feature great food, desserts, and informative presentations on sporting, wildlife, conservation, and other fascinating topics.
Shooting Activities
Shooting Range: Open May 15 – October 31 on the Morton Cutoff Rd. at the Old Fanjoy Pit. Contact us via the Contact page or visit River’s Edge Sport Shop (207-864-5582) to sign a release and get the gate code.
Skeet & Trap Club: Also running May 15 – October 31 at the end of Old Skiway Rd. in Oquossoc. RRG&SA members enjoy reciprocal membership with the RRS&TA. For more info, contact Dave Kretzing at 207-864-4323.
Archery Range: Available June 1 – October 31 below the RRG&SA clubhouse lower parking lot. Contact Gary Langille at 207-860-9293 for details.
Outdoor Education and Recreation
Hunter Safety Classes: Dates TBA based on demand. Email [email protected] to express interest.
Tim Baker Trail: Opens June 15 at the Guides’ Clubhouse, featuring an annual storybook walk for children.
Junior Guides Summer Program: Starting July 14, this award-winning program offers Basic and Advanced sessions over three consecutive Mondays and Tuesdays. Kids will enjoy hands-on activities including wildlife education, fly tying, archery, and more. Pre-registration required; contact Karon Noyes at 207-650-5489.
Community Events
July 3rd In the Park: Join us for burgers, hot dogs, and our famous Guides’ fries as part of Rangeley’s Independence Day celebrations.
Kids’ Fishing Derby: Date TBD in July. Children fish in age groups at our stocked Fishing Pond, with prizes, food, and equipment provided.
Strawberry Festival: Thursday, July 10, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Oquossoc Village Town Park. Enjoy fresh strawberry shortcake, crafts, food, and more. Contact Sue Lewis at 218-415-6921 for information.
Annual Membership Meeting
Mark your calendars for our 129th Annual Membership Meeting on Thursday, July 17, at 5:30 p.m. We’ll elect club officers and enjoy an informal presentation.
