Shooting Activities

RRGSA offers youth shotgun clinics and trap shoots at their Oquossoc range, focusing on safety, marksmanship, and conservation ethics.

Rifle & Pistol Range

Available from May 15 to October 31. The range is located on the Morton Cutoff Rd at the Old Fanjoy Pit, 10 miles from the Clubhouse in Oquossoc.

The 100-yard rifle range provides 5 shooting benches that are configured for either right or left-handed shooters. There is also a 50-yard standing pistol range. Range rules are posted and must be followed. Shooters are asked to clean up after themselves, including brass.

There is a gate limiting access to RRGSA members only.

You can register for membership at River’s Edge Sport Shop in Oquossoc (you will be given the lock combination upon joining the Club).

Flag Procedure
  • Red flag: Range is hot. No movement forward of the firing line.
  • Green flag: Range is cold. Movement forward of the firing line is authorized.
Range Use Reminder
  • Only provided target stands may be used at the Range.
  • You may bring any approved paper targets, but hand-drawn paper targets are not allowed.
  • Provided stands must be used to protect the range floor and stake pockets.
  • Do not shoot at the yard markers—they are in place to protect the target stake pockets.

  • Target stands marked “Sitting” are the only approved stands for the sitting lane (Lane 1 of the pistol range).
