Monthly Potluck: Dr. Reusch – “Unearthing the Appalachians”

Friday, January 16, 2026

Join us for the RRG&SA Monthly Potluck Dinner and Social Meeting on Thursday, January 22, 2026, for an evening of good food, community, and fascinating science.

Our guest speaker will be Dr. Douglas Reusch, Professor of Geology at the University of Maine at Farmington, who will present “Origins and Formations That Created the New England Appalachians.”

Dr. Reusch led an award-winning research project at UMF that included mapping nearby Bald Mountain and the Saddleback wind fields, shedding light on the geological forces that shaped our beautiful Rangeley landscape.

Come learn about the unique origins of the Appalachian Mountains, the rare rocks and earth minerals found in our region, and how geology continues to influence our planet’s climate and sustainability. Dr. Reusch has participated in research projects around the world and will share valuable insights into how Earth’s processes shape the environment we live in today.

All are welcome! Invite a friend and join us at the clubhouse — doors open at 5:00 PM. Please bring your favorite dish or dessert to share.
