RRG&SA is excited to announce significant upcoming improvements to its Rifle/Pistol Range, located on Morton Cut Off Road in Lower Cupsuptic Township. These upgrades are in response to recent damage sustained during last fall and winter storms, as well as increased usage by our shooting community.

The planned improvements include replacing damaged canopies, leveling benches, constructing a handicap-accessible platform, and additional site leveling as needed. The association will also install new target stands and clearly mark distances for 25, 50, 75, and 100 yards for rifles, as well as 25 and 50 yards for pistols. Enhanced signage will be posted to ensure the safety of all shooters.

To further support these efforts, RRG&SA is pleased to welcome Craig Gerry, Statewide Shooting Range Coordinator for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (MDIFW), to the range on May 15th. Craig will provide expert recommendations on improving range safety and will be the guest speaker at the evening Potluck Supper Social. His visit will include a presentation on steps to ensure a safer shooting environment and guidance on developing a formal shooting program at RRG&SA.

RRG&SA is seeking volunteers to assist with range maintenance, event organization, and instruction. Opportunities are also available for those interested in teaching or attending classes on firearm safety, handling, storage, and beginner instruction in both rifles and shotguns.
