May 24, 2026
RRGSA invites families to the Annual Kids Fishing Derby, a fun, free event for young anglers ages 15 and under. The derby will take place on Saturday, June 27, at the RRGSA Clubhouse Trout Pond, 41 Old Skiway Rd, Oquossoc, ME 04964.
Registration begins at 8:00 AM, with fishing starting shortly after. The morning of friendly competition ends at 11:15 AM, followed by prize awards at 11:30 AM. All children are welcome, from first-time casters to seasoned young anglers, and the event is free for all kids.
Held at the stocked trout pond behind the Clubhouse, the derby offers a perfect setting for children to practice their fishing skills, enjoy the outdoors, and experience the thrill of the catch.
RRGSA provides equipment, bait, prizes, and food, including hot dogs and drinks served on-site. A limited number of loaner rods are available on a first-come, first-served basis for those who need them. Trophies and prizes are awarded for various categories.
“We’re proud to keep this tradition alive for the next generation of anglers,” said Sonny Pierce, RRGSA president. “The Kids Fishing Derby is a celebration of family, community, and the sporting heritage Rangeley is famous for.”
Pets are not allowed at this event.
