Upcoming Hunter Safety and Rifle Fundamentals Courses

Oquossoc, ME – August 2025 – The Rangeley Region Guides’ and Sportsmen’s Association (RRG&SA) is pleased to announce two upcoming educational programs at the Clubhouse in Oquossoc this September, designed to support both new and experienced hunters.

Hunter Safety Course – Sunday, September 21, 2025
This in‑class course is required for anyone purchasing a hunting license for the first time in Maine. Participants will learn the essential principles of safe and responsible hunting needed to begin a lifetime of enjoyment in the outdoors.

Fundamentals of Hunting Rifles – Sunday, September 28, 2025
This training program offers classroom instruction in the morning, followed by live‑fire range time in the afternoon. Attendees will have the opportunity to learn with and practice several different calibers under the guidance of experienced instructors.

All participants must register in advance through the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (MDIFW). Details and registration information are available on the MDIFW website.
