Maine Wildlife Expert to Speak at June Potluck
June 13, 2024
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Alexander Fish, Endangered & Threatened Species Coordinator for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, will be the featured speaker at our upcoming potluck dinner on Thursday, June 19.
Dr. Fish will present “Monitoring Thousands of Maine’s Native Wildlife: How Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Does It and How You Can Get Involved.” This engaging talk will offer a behind-the-scenes look at how the Department surveys, monitors, and tracks the population trends of more than 15,000 native species—including amphibians, birds, inland fish, invertebrates, mammals, and reptiles.
Attendees will learn about the Wildlife Diversity Section’s work, hear highlights from recent and ongoing projects, and discover practical ways to participate in wildlife conservation. Whether your interests lie in native brook trout, backyard bumble bees and butterflies, or the songbirds that accompany your spring turkey hunts, this presentation will deepen your appreciation for Maine’s remarkable wildlife and show you how to make a difference.
